Dear 7th and 8th Grade Parents/Guardians and Students:

    On behalf of the 7th and 8th Grade Teams, we would like to welcome you back, in advance, to Desert Thunder School this coming August.  We are excited to begin the 2018-2019 school year and look forward to working with all of you to ensure a successful year for everyone.

    Middle school students will be held to a high standard in academics and individual independence.  This is an exciting and challenging time of transition. It is our job to prepare our students for high school and we take that responsibility very seriously.  

    To help ensure a successful start, below are some supplies that are recommended for students to have at the beginning of the school year:

***Please check with your child on a quarterly basis to ensure they have all supplies necessary that are indicated below.  They will need these items for the entire year.

  • Pens – blue/black, red


  • 5   Two-Pocket folders (One for each: homeroom, math, language arts, science, social studies)

  • 2  One-Subject Spirals (One for each: science and social studies)

  • 1  Three-Subject Spiral (math)

  • 3   Composition Books  (ELA (2) and Science (1))

  • ½ ” binder with set of dividers (science)

  • Ruler

  • Protractor

  • 3x5 Note Cards

  • Calculator (TI-30)

  • Hand held pencil sharpener

  • Scissors

  • Dry erase markers

  • Glue Sticks (7th grade ELA needs extra)

For Homeroom Use (These items will be turned into the teacher and will be used throughout the year.  They will not need to be brought in again.)

  • Glue sticks and glue

  • Tissue

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Copy paper (1-2 reams)

  • Lined paper - college rule (2-3 packages)

  • Storage Quart Baggies

  • Colored pencils and markers

  • 5 packages loose leaf paper
