My Homework

Your child will bring home a homework packet every Monday evening.  The spelling list for the quarter as well as the phonetic skill of the week, and any needed worksheets will be included.  Since each family has circumstances or special events that come up during the week, your child has the entire week to complete the packet, however it is recommended that the weekly schedule be followed. The natural consequence of incomplete work will be to sit out at recess to finish.

Your student can expect 10-20 minutes of "pencil/paper" homework each day Monday – Thursday.  An additional 15-20 minutes should be spent reading EVERY DAY.  This time of reading for enjoyment may include paper books that go home, Spelling sentences, Phonics sentences, Vocabulary/Reading words, and/or Library books.  Also spend 5 minutes practicing math flash cards to improve accuracy and speed for addition and subtraction facts 0-20 practicing for first graders.  Flash cards are available for minimal cost at dollar stores, Target, Wal-Mart, et

Our class is participating in the APTT: Academic Parent Teacher Teams this year. This is a separate packet with the skills our class is working on; the last two meeting included nonsense words, a reading passage with comprehension questions and sound drills. These skills are beneficial for the students and you will continue to see the academic improvement throughout the quarters.
